YachtNav App

1. OpenStreetMap

Contains map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Lizenzinformationen: www.openstreetmap.org/copyright

2. OpenSeaMap

Die Seezeichen (Tonnen, Feuer, Leuchttürme) über der Karte kommen von OpenSeaMap. Die Seezeichendaten stammen aus OpenStreetMap (ODbL), die Kartenkacheln stehen unter Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 (CC BY-SA 2.0).

4. GEBCO – Tiefenübersicht des offenen Meeres

GEBCO Compilation Group (2026) GEBCO 2026 Grid (doi:10.5285/4f68d5c7-45eb-f999-e063-7086abc036fa).

6. WorldTides – Gezeiten

Tidal data retrieved from www.worldtides.info. Copyright © Brainware LLC. NO GUARANTEES ARE MADE ABOUT THE CORRECTNESS OF THIS TIDAL DATA.

Legal information (English)

The maps and data in YachtNav come from the sources below. A short version is also in the app under Settings → Help & Support → Legal information, readable without internet.

OpenStreetMap. Contains map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. The base map, the land layer of the chart regions (it shows coast and land without internet) and the harbour directory are based on OpenStreetMap data; Navismare derived the land layers and the harbour directory from it. The data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Licence information: www.openstreetmap.org/copyright

OpenSeaMap. The seamarks (buoys, lights, lighthouses) on top of the map come from OpenSeaMap. The seamark data comes from OpenStreetMap (ODbL); the map tiles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 (CC BY-SA 2.0).

NOAA – US charts. The US charts in YachtNav are based on the electronic navigational charts (ENC) of the NOAA Office of Coast Survey. NOAA data is in the public domain; Navismare prepares it for YachtNav in its own chart format. Copies passed on are not official NOAA charts.

GEBCO – depth overview of the open sea. GEBCO Compilation Group (2026) GEBCO 2026 Grid (doi:10.5285/4f68d5c7-45eb-f999-e063-7086abc036fa). The depth overview of the open sea (depth numbers and depth lines where there is no nautical chart) is based on the grid of GEBCO. The grid is free to use, including commercially; Navismare prepares it into map tiles for YachtNav. The overview has no official status and is not endorsed by GEBCO, the IHO or the IOC. It is not for navigation and not intended for safety-critical purposes. The resolution of the grid (about 450 m) can be coarser than that of the underlying survey data; the grid is provided without warranty.

NOAA/NCEP – wind and wave forecast. The wind and wave forecasts (GFS and GFS-Wave) are model data from NOAA/NCEP, the US weather service (nomads.ncep.noaa.gov). They are publicly available and free to use.

WorldTides – tides. Tidal data retrieved from www.worldtides.info. Copyright © Brainware LLC. The tidal data comes from various sources, each covered by its own copyright; the list of sources is at www.worldtides.info/copyright. NO GUARANTEES ARE MADE ABOUT THE CORRECTNESS OF THIS TIDAL DATA. The tides are not intended for navigation or safety-critical use.

Natural Earth. The world map shown as a base while no other map is loaded is based on Natural Earth data, which is in the public domain.

Apple Maps. In satellite mode YachtNav shows map data and satellite imagery from Apple Maps (online only). Apple's legal notices appear at the bottom edge of the map; the terms for Apple Maps are at apple.com/legal/internet-services/maps.

Software. YachtNav includes no third-party software packages; the app builds on Apple's frameworks.

Notice. The maps and data in YachtNav are for orientation only. They are not official nautical charts and do not replace them. The base map contains no water depths. The depth overview of the open sea is not for navigation.
