Skipper team

Skipper application: yacht deliveries on their own keel

You take yachts safely over long distances and are looking for deliveries with professional organisation behind you? Since 1996 Navismare has delivered sailing and motor yachts on their own keel – North Sea, Baltic, Bay of Biscay, Mediterranean, Atlantic. For our skipper team we are looking for licensed skippers and co-skippers.

What we expect from you

  • Valid licences for the passages you want to command – such as RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Ocean, or the German SSS/SHS – plus a marine radio certificate (SRC, ideally LRC)
  • Verifiable miles as skipper in charge, a good share of them on long passages or deliveries
  • Technical understanding of engine, electrics and rig – under way you are skipper and ship's engineer in one
  • Clean documentation (logbook, condition report, handover protocol) and calm, clear communication with owners and the back office
  • Flexibility: deliveries take days to weeks, and the weather window sets the pace

What to expect from Navismare

  • A back office that plans route, weather, paperwork, travel and crew – you concentrate on the yacht
  • Clear agreements before every passage: fee, travel costs and onboard cash fund are settled before the lines are cast off
  • Crew from our network: experienced deckhands and around 1,000 berth-for-work sailors
  • Varied waters – from the Baltic and North Sea across the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean and Atlantic crossings
  • A team that has delivered yachts together since 1996 and looks out for one another
Application

Apply to join the skipper team

The more precisely you describe your experience, the better we can judge which deliveries suit you. We read every application personally and will get back to you – if it fits, we get to know each other in a conversation and settle availability, waters and open questions.

Would you rather sail as crew without commanding? Then the berth-for-work form (in German) is the right way.

Good to know

Questions about the skipper application

I have logged many miles but have never skippered a delivery – is it worth applying?

Yes. Choose co-skipper as your role and describe honestly what you have sailed so far. Responsibility on board grows with the deliveries, not with the ambition in the form.

How does working with Navismare work?

We contact you for individual deliveries when route, yacht and timeframe suit you – you decide passage by passage. Preparation, weather routing, crew selection and invoicing are handled by our back office.

What happens to my details and my photo?

Your application reaches our back office by e-mail. We use your details only to process your application and to contact you about suitable deliveries; nothing is passed on. You can ask us to delete your data at any time – details in the privacy policy (in German).

Rather sail as crew than command?

On a berth-for-work basis ("Hand gegen Koje") you experience deliveries as crew – with or without sailing experience. How it works and how to sign up is explained on our German berth-for-work page.
