When do you need a delivery skipper?
Owners who cannot or do not wish to sail the planned route themselves. Shipyards that need a boat delivered for handover or repair. Insurers that need a yacht moved safely after a claim. And if you stay on board yourself but legally need a responsible master, our skipper takes that role.

- We select a suitable professional from our network – by local knowledge, experience and availability.
- You receive a transparent quote, usually the same or next working day.
- After confirmation we settle the final details on handover, crew and safety equipment.
- The skipper sails the yacht safely and documents the whole passage reliably.
What does a skipper cost?
The cost depends on route, yacht size, waters and season. Because Navismare works with a fixed, vetted network, you receive a fair quote without hidden costs – including insurance and full cost control. On request we assemble a complete crew, for example for Atlantic crossings.
Your free quote includes: transparent terms with no hidden costs, 6 million euros of insurance cover, continuous cost control, fair contract conditions, a condition report of your yacht on request, and fully documented costs and expenses.
Questions about skipper hire
Do I need a skipper if I hold a licence myself?
Not necessarily – but many owners book a skipper anyway when route, waters or weather are demanding, or time is short.
Can I book just a co-skipper?
Yes. If you want to command your own yacht but need support, we also provide experienced co-skippers.
How quickly can a skipper be booked?
Short-notice requests are often possible if route and weather window can realistically be planned. Outside high season you usually receive a quote within one or two working days.
